The short version
- No account is needed and none exists — we don't know who you are.
- We don't ask for, want, or store your name, Social Security number, health records, or contact details. Please don't type them into the assistant.
- We never sell data, run ads, or use cross-site tracking.
- The only analytics we keep are anonymous counters (for example, "the calculator was used N times on this date").
Who we are
The Veteran Benefits Navigator and the website at reviveveteraninstitute.com (together, the "Service") are operated by Revive Veteran Institute, a program of Revive Community Health, 4700 S. McClintock Drive, Suite 140, Tempe, AZ 85282. Questions about this policy: micahp@revivecommunityhealth.org or 480-851-6309.
Information we do not collect
The Service is deliberately anonymous. There are no user accounts, no sign-in, and no profiles. We do not collect or store names, email addresses, phone numbers, Social Security or VA file numbers, dates of birth, health information, disability records, or documents. The AI assistant automatically screens messages and will decline to process a message that appears to contain identifying numbers, email addresses, or phone numbers, rather than sending it onward.
Because we hold no personal information about you, we cannot identify you, contact you, or link your visit to you.
Information processed automatically
Like all websites, some technical information is processed to deliver and protect the Service:
- Hosting logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) processes standard web request logs — such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested — to serve the site and diagnose problems, retained under Vercel's own policies.
- Abuse prevention. To prevent abuse, requests to the assistant and analytics endpoints are rate-limited using a temporary counter derived from your IP address. These counters exist for about one minute and are then automatically deleted. They are never stored durably and are never combined with usage analytics.
- Anonymous usage analytics. The Service may record that a feature was used — for example "calculator run", "state page viewed", or "question sent" — together with coarse, non-identifying detail (such as a rating percentage or a state abbreviation) and the calendar date. No IP address, no identifier, no free text, and no time-of-day is stored with these events. Crisis-support interactions are never recorded beyond an anonymous count that the resources were shown.
The AI assistant
When you send a message to the "Ask" feature, your message (and the visible conversation) is transmitted from our server to Anthropic, our AI provider, solely to generate a reply, subject to Anthropic's API data-handling policies. We do not store your conversations. Replies are general information only — not legal, medical, or claims advice.
Please do not include personal, medical, or claim-specific details in your messages. The assistant screens for identifying numbers and contact details and will ask you to rephrase rather than process them.
Cookies, local storage, and offline caching
The Service does not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or third-party analytics scripts. If you install the Navigator to your home screen or visit it in a modern browser, a service worker stores copies of the app's files on your device so crisis resources and tools remain available offline. That cache lives on your device and can be removed by clearing your browser's site data.
Service providers we rely on
- Vercel — website and application hosting.
- Anthropic — processes assistant messages to generate replies.
- Upstash — holds the short-lived abuse-prevention counters described above.
Each provider processes only what is needed for its function. We do not sell or rent any information to anyone.
Links to other sites
The Service links extensively to official resources such as VA.gov, the Veterans Crisis Line, and state veterans agencies. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.
If you are in crisis
The Service is not an emergency or crisis-counseling service. If you are in crisis, dial 988 and press 1, text 838255, or chat at VeteransCrisisLine.net — free, confidential, 24/7, regardless of VA enrollment or discharge status. In immediate danger, call 911. We do not track or record who views or uses crisis resources.
Children
The Service is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your choices and rights
Because the Service keeps no personal information about you, there is generally nothing for us to access, correct, or delete. If you believe you submitted personal information to us in error, contact us and we will address it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the Service handles information, we will update this page and its "Last updated" date before the change takes effect.
